Sunday Seawatching for a Start.

The two Martin's and myself went to Porthcawl for the early shift on Sunday for another spot of seawatching. Nothing much seen a Great Northern Diver being the best bird. After an hour or so we decided to cut our losses and upped sticks to Kenfig.

Kenfig produced a Scaup and a flock over just over 40 Pochard and smaller numbers of Gadwall and Wigeon in amongst the Mallard and Coots. We then walked down to Sker but nothing out of the ordinary was observed.

Next on the list was Pant Norton and Portobello. Birds seen included Yellowhammer, 2 Merlin, Sparrowhawk, Teal, Little Grebe, Goosander, Goldeneye and Redshank as well as all the usual Gulls.

We then went down to Ogmore hoping for some sightings of the Purple Sandpipers. They had decided to be elsewhere though probably because of the very large waves which were crashing over the rocks.

Last call was Southerndown for a stroll along the cliffs to see if any Choughs were around. The spray off the sea was even reaching the tops of the cliffs. One Chough was observed flying east.
