Yes it is, Martin. It is one of my favourite wildflowers. In Cwm Taf Fechan nature reserve, where there is Water Avens and Wood Avens in close proximity, the hybrid between them occurs.
No I didn't. In fact, I didn't know there was a website dedicated to the reserve. Last Friday, in the field between the bypass, the old tramroad that runs down from Hirwaun to the chicken factory roundabout and Penywaun, I was poking about and found a colony of at least thirty Emperor Moth caterpillars feeding on Meadowsweet, but more importantly I saw a female Marsh Fritillary.
