It's reasonably common and seems to occur on various broadleaved trees. The soggy nature of rotten wood, after such a wet period certainly encourages the growth of the gelatinous fungi, but too much rain can play havoc with them. Jew's Ear seems to be pretty immune to whatever the weather has to offer.
