Last night temperature dipped to C8.5 so not expecting much, I wasn't disappointed just 1 moth but at least it was a tick; for me, backyard and apparently MTCBC: Lunar Underwing.
Quiet birdwise with just the usual wildfowl at Rhaslas, most of the lesser black-backed gulls have already left for their winter quarters, probably Llangorse and Llandegfydd. Plenty of mud on show at Llwyn-onn since the 17th, when WW dropped the water level but alas very few birds except occasional kingfisher which follows the waters edge thus showing really well. Also great crested grebe succeeded in breeding this year with 1 stripey on show. (WW are installing a turbine below dam so low water should persist for some time).
I can't believe that is the first record of Lunar Underwing in Merthyr. We've both trapped late enough at CTF to have had one there. Just goes to show, I suppose.
