I found this at a site near Mountain Ash, this afternoon. I had better not give the location on here, as this will probably be classed as a sensitive record and the exact site kept secret, so no guesses please.

Teloschistes chrysophthalmus (Golden-eye Lichen) The whole plant is only
15mm across. |
As far as I know, this is only the second record of it in Wales. It made my day.
Well done Mark, excellent.

ReplyDeleteI found it by accident.
ReplyDeletethat the way it go and best thing i found yesterday was Hair Air and i will be looking for lichen again now
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about hair ice.
ReplyDeletei been looking for it and i so it first and thought slime mold and on looking close i thought great
ReplyDeleteAnother excellent find Mark, well done.
ReplyDeleteExcellent find - gives me hope that I can find the species around here. On Hawthorne?
ReplyDeleteYes it is on Hawthorn and as this site has quite polluted air, it could be anywhere, so if you see a hawthorn with a good lichen community, have a good look, but be warned, the two I have found (this one and one in Dorset) were both very small and don't look particularly yellow from a distance. Have a Happy New Year and good hunting!
